So...what exactly is Henna?

Henna is a plant. The leaves are crushed into fine powder and mixed with other natural ingredients to make a paste. After the design is applied to the body, the paste dries and comes off, leaving a beautiful, natural maroon to black colour. The design lasts for 5-10 days.

I often see the word 'Mehndi' with the pics?

Mehndi (or Mehandi) is the Hindi/Urdu term for Henna.

How do I care for Henna after application?

Henna is best kept on for 4-6 hours for great results - 12 hours or more and you're GUARANTEED to get a naturally dark colour! Once the paste has dried, use a cotton wool to gently dab a mix of natural lemon juice and sugar (in equal ratios) to the design. This is a traditional sealant to help bring out the colour of the paste. To remove any leftover henna, dab with oil and gently wipe off. Do not take off with water as this will run the colour immediately. For best results, avoid contact with water as much as possible (Eg., wear gloves when showering or washing up) and continuously apply coconut oil over your design.

Is Henna safe for my skin?

I personally mix my own natural henna fresh on a regular basis, so no chemicals are added to assist in the colour development once the paste is removed.

What about Black Henna?

Black henna is not natural henna. It contains harsh chemicals which scars and burns the skin. Please be careful of places which offer black henna, especially if you are pregnant, undergoing chemo treatment or have sensitive skin.
